INSPIRATION
This work is a fresh take on Onahau Point in the Marlborough Sounds. if you have ever walked or mountain-biked the Queen Charlotte Track you will have noticed this very view. I painted this in my mind as I rode past, heading for Mistletoe Bay.
I saw green on green on green, with a sense of peace and tranquility, as well as a dose of tidy, orderly lines, leading to zig-zaggy points where the hills meet the water. The yellows in the work are intentionally ambiguous - maybe it's the native Kowhai that feeds the beautiful songbirds in the area, or is it a wee outcrop of gorse?
