INSPIRATION
Kaikoura may soon be a World Heritage site. If you have been to the Kaikoura peninsula, and looked for seals, you will enjoy this painting ...
At first you see a seascape, then you see one or two seals. Then you realise the seals are literally everywhere, hiding in plain sight!
How many can you spot?
This is a beautiful reminder that when you really look, you find.
Kaikoura's geology is also referenced here in the foreground. Its rock has been layered down, thrust up, and warped over millions of years of seismic activity. The sea's 'valleys' provide feeding grounds for the whales, seals, dolphins, crayfish and other marine life special to Kaikoura.
