INSPIRATION


This work celebrates togetherness. Inspired by a tight family of spoonbills peacefully feeding on the tidal flats at Havelock in Marlborough.


Spoonbills are usually seen together in twos or more, and they are quite quirky in the way the behave, especially the way they dine (like a washing machine, swish swashing side to side).


I created these two as mates, with their semi-independent just off into the distance, doing its own thing.
