Rabbit Island SUP'ers
Rabbit Island SUP-ers - Rabbit Island original painting, New Zealand.
Rabbit Island is much loved for it's wide open space, and almost no people. When you look seaward you pretty just much see what your see here - just three gorgeous stripes of nature - sand, water, sky.
The 'SUP-ers' (Stand Up Paddleboarders), I wanted to be small, subordinate, few, and in harmony with the lovely beach - not dominating (or destroying) it.
This 'diptych' is a unique combination of square and half square, just to change it up.
I painted these works with a knife and thick paint, to give them their textured, stylised finish.

Oil on board. Painting 1 - 430mm square; Painting 2 230mm w x 430mm h.
Both beautifully framed in hand made, NZ timber frames.
