The Kaikoura Peninsula is a bit magic. Its waters are home to seals, dolphins, sea lions, abundant seafood (kaimoana), and sea birds. It’s historically significant for Maori and has a whaling story.
Kaikoura is where my family hail from. This work depicts the wintery Kaikoura mountains from what is locally known as the Point, with typical farmland in the foreground.
