Mt Judah looms large over Glenorchy, demanding a ride or hike up (.. and up!) the valley. It is quite an effort, but so worth the experience of being in the South Island backcountry.
In summer everything appears to be a shade of ochre or brown.
I was at the hut near the tops when I decided to paint a Central Otago landscape.
The work exaggerates the experience of journeying up the mountain, and makes a play on all the goldy colors. As with many of my paintings, it is very textured to create richness and drama.
