Kakapotahi. Where on earth? You'll find it by accident! It's one of the many remote river mouths on South Island's wild West Coast.
I found it right on dusk, and decided it was going to be the next painting! The sky, the earth and the water were all in a sort of communication. The water was reflecting the sky's mood, and the sand was shifting and shaping in response to the water's demands.
I used a palette knife and impasto technique (thick paint) for the lovely texture, and brush work for a softer more ephemeral mood on the sky and water.
