Tahunanui at night after a storm ... The dramatic sunset pours gold over the estuary, while casting the Golf Club into pitch dark. You have to look hard to make out the trees scattered over the green.
You can just see Rabbit Island's forest emerging from the mist coming off the estuary, and Kahurangi National Park's ranges beyond.
A chance crack in the storm clouds reveals the setting sun, and allows this scene to play out.
I used a palette knife and impasto technique (thick paint) for drama and texture.
